The Affirmations for a Prince Collection was created because it's extremely important for our little black kings to grow up knowing that they are important and can accomplish whatever they put their effort towards. There are all types of negative stereotypes that are pushed in our society. There is also a lot of toxic masculine energy running rampant so it's very important that we are proactive in instilling powerful positive traits in our boys while they are young.
Toxic masculinity is birthed when young boys are taught that expressing their emotions is considered weak. This can be done by not holding space for them when they hurt themselves, or saying statements like “toughen up” or “man up”. Some of our boys are picked on by others when they express their emotions so they learn to repress them instead of expressing themselves. It's our job to empower and guide the children in our care to be the very best version of themselves.
